Ingredients
- 2 cups apples (cored, peeled, and chopped)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Prepare the filling by melting the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook until apples are tender, about 5–7 minutes.
- For the base and topping, mix rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Integrate cut pieces of butter until crumbly.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Press half of the oat mixture into a greased baking dish. Spread apple filling evenly on top and finish with the remaining oat mixture.
- Bake for about 50 minutes or until golden brown on top. Allow cooling before slicing.
