  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup warm water or warm milk
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 7 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Add warm water or milk and honey with one tablespoon of butter; knead until smooth.
  2. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes to an hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread with softened butter; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
  5. Cut into strips, twist into knots, and place on the baking sheet.
  6. Top each knot with melted butter mixed with remaining cinnamon and brown sugar.
  7. Bake for about 16-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and enough water for desired consistency; drizzle over warm knots.
