  • 1/4 cup jalapenos (sliced and seeded)
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons masa harina
  • Sour cream (optional)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat canola oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Sauté diced onion for 3–5 minutes until soft, then add garlic and ground beef. Cook until browned.
  2. Lower heat and incorporate Italian seasoning, chili powder, smoked paprika, crushed tomatoes, red kidney beans, jalapeños, and spices. Stir well.
  3. Simmer for 10 minutes; then mix in masa harina to thicken the chili. Continue cooking until desired consistency is reached.
